1981-1985FOUNDED

New Concepts for Living was founded in 1981 by a group of parents who had children with developmental disabilities. At the time there was little support for families in this situation so NCFL was founded to care for, and empower the individual while providing much needed relief for their families.

In 1985 New Concepts for Living opened its first group home in Hillsdale, NJ. The Hillsdale home was the first of our 13 homes to open and it continues to operate with round-the-clock supervision 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

1992-1996EXPANSION BEGINS

New Concepts for Living began expansion with the opening of new homes in TeaneckPark RidgeRiver Vale and River Edge. The addition of four new homes in four years was a testament to our commitment to serving the developmentally disabled population and our driving desire to better the lives of as many people as possible.

In the coming years, the vision of New Concepts for Living was realized as expansion of our agency continued. Plans for future expansion are still a focus of New Concepts as we continue in our mission going forward.
