Local non-profit supports the community while teaching the value of giving back and providing a sense of purpose to developmentally disabled adults.
New Concepts for Living, a 501(c)(3) organization that provides housing, daycare, and other services to adults with developmental disabilities, will be hosting a Food Drive this month at their main office and day program location in Rochelle Park.
Starting Monday, 10/28 and culminating in time for the Thanksgiving Holiday, New Concepts for Living will be collecting food and on 11/25 New Concepts for Living’s adult achievement center day program residents will box up the food and personally deliver it to Toni’s Kitchen, a food ministry of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Montclair, NJ.
“This is our second year coordinating this effort. I had volunteered at Toni’s Kitchen myself and realized it would be mutually beneficial to get New Concepts for Living involved in this great cause. I believe we have a responsibility to our clients, their families, and our communities. Selfishly, community service provides our clients with a moral framework and gives them the satisfaction of doing good for others,” explained Bridget Garland, Day Program Director.
If you would like to support this effort and both organizations, you can bring or send canned or non-perishable foods to their location at 68a West Passaic Street, Rochelle Park, New Jersey.
