For over 25 years, New Concepts for Living has been providing a distinguished day program for developmentally disabled adults. Unlike other programs in our area, NCFL participants benefit from well-rounded skills training plans, an unmatched activities calendar, on-site behavioral services and the availability of an on-site RN or LPN.

Our Achievement Center not only offers state-of-the-art care and recreation for our participants, it also provides much-needed respite for the caregivers of these extraordinary individuals. NCFL's day program staff is trained to encourage and assist participants in order to enable them to reach their full potential, while ensuring they receive the dignity and respect they deserve.

Our mission is to ensure we enhance the lives of everyone in our care and to not only keep them safe but to help them thrive!

Every day, we take the opportunity to reinforce daily life skills. As part of our day program we make it a priority to conduct or incorporate:

  • Safety classes
  • Health education
  • Money management
  • Cooking classes

Our goal is always to help our participants function at the highest level and remain as independent as possible.

This is only a small sample of everything we do here at NCFL! Other activities such as karaoke, arts & crafts, board games, video games, team building exercises and shopping are designed to stimulate and develop the mind, increase mental and fine motor skills and develop imagination.

We believe it is our responsibility to provide opportunities our participants might not have otherwise. It is vital to practice and promote Community Inclusion for all people, regardless of their disabilities.

Our robust selection of activities are geared towards clients of all abilities and include:

  • Volleyball
  • Basketball
  • Exercise class
  • Yoga and Meditation
  • Dance class
  • Bowling
  • Parachute play
monthly activities

Our day program organizes a variety of field trips. Favorite places
include the Statue of Liberty, MetLife Stadium, Rockefeller Center, Spirit of NJ Cruise, Prudential Center, Yankee Stadium, Point Pleasant Boardwalk and others. In order to integrate our participants into their communities and teach them the importance of giving back, our Adult Achievement Center participants volunteer in different organizations throughout the year. Volunteer activities include cooking for the Meals on Wheels program, spending time with residents at the local Veteran’s homes, The Salvation Army, Goodwill and more.

Proven benefits of our robust recreation program include:

  • Healthier lifestyles
  • Improved self-esteem
  • Decrease in depression, anxiety and maladaptive behaviors
  • Improved social skills
  • Increased fine and gross motor skills
