On June 19, New Concepts for Living’s Day Program participants enjoyed a day filled with fun, laughter, and community as the newly formed S.H.I.N.E. Network partnered with NCFL to host a special Fun Fair at our Paramus Achievement Center.

Organized by Day Program Senior Manager Rae Wine with the support of the S.H.I.N.E. Network, the event transformed NCFL’s Town Square and outdoor picnic area into a festive fairground featuring games, prizes, snacks, and activities for participants to enjoy.

The event was made possible through the generosity and dedication of members of the newly formed S.H.I.N.E. Network, an NCFL parent and guardian group dedicated to supporting families, fostering connections, and enhancing opportunities for the individuals we serve. Families donated or secured donations of games, prizes, and refreshments, while many volunteered their time to help set up and operate the various activity stations throughout the day.

Participants spent the day enjoying carnival-style games, socializing with friends, winning prizes, and creating lasting memories with family members, staff, and volunteers.

“Our Fun Fair was more than a day of laughter and games—it was a celebration of inclusion, teamwork, and community,” said Rae Wine, NCFL’s Day Program Senior Manager. “With the unwavering support of parents, staff, and families, we created joyful moments where individuals with disabilities could shine, connect, and belong.”

The joy of our first NCFL Fun Fair reflected the heart of our community,” said Lisa Babin, NCFL Board Member, guardian, and one of the event’s parent organizers. “I was proud to work alongside dedicated staff, guardians, and volunteers to make it happen. Special thanks to Rae Wine for her leadership and vision. Seeing the smiles on our clients’ faces made it all worthwhile.”

NCFL extends its sincere thanks to the S.H.I.N.E. Network, all participating family volunteers, and Rae Wine for helping make this memorable day possible. We look forward to future opportunities to bring families, staff, and participants together through events that celebrate community, inclusion, and connection.
