This #GivingTuesday, all monies raised will support the construction and installation of an ADA Accessible Pool for our new Aquatic Therapy Program at our Achievement Center in Paramus.
Studies have shown that aquatic therapy/exercise for adults with I/DD improves endurance, aerobic capacity, muscular strength/mobility, and balance/mobility. Because of the physical properties of water (buoyancy, reduced weight‐bearing, resistance, supportive environment) it helps adults with I/DD who have limited mobility, balance issues, low motivation for land‐based exercise, or comorbidities (e.g., low muscle tone) that make land exercise harder. Outside the physical benefits, aquatic therapy has proven to improve mood and reduces anxiety, enhances attention and focus, boosts confidence and self-esteem, and reduces maladaptive behaviors.
Your gift this GivingTuesday will help NCFL open the door to a new program – Aquatic Therapy.
Thank you for helping us reach our $60,000 GivingTuesday goal!
