Can I bring my family?

Absolutely! The NCFL Walk-A-Thon is a family-friendly event, and we encourage participants of all ages to join us. To help us plan for attendance, everyone participating in the walk must be registered, including children.

Can I bring my dog?

Yes! Friendly, well-behaved dogs are welcome to join the walk. Please keep your dog on a leash at all times and be mindful of other participants. There's even a dog park nearby if your furry friend would like some extra playtime after the event!

How long is the walk?

The walk is designed to be flexible for everyone. One lap is approximately ½ mile, and you can complete as many laps as you'd like. Whether you walk one lap or several, every step makes a difference!

Do I have to fundraise?

No. You're welcome to register and simply enjoy the walk! While fundraising is not required, every dollar raised helps support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and we encourage participants to fundraise if they're able.

How do I start a fundraising team?

When you register, you'll have the option to create a team or join an existing one. Invite friends, family, coworkers, or neighbors to walk and fundraise together. It's easy to share your team's fundraising page by email, text, and social media.

Can I donate if I can't attend?

Absolutely! Even if you can't join us on Walk Day, you can still support the event by making a donation or contributing to an individual or team's fundraising page. Every gift helps make a difference.

Can I join or create a team after I register?

Yes! You can create a new team or join an existing team at any time before the event. Fundraising together is a great way to increase your impact while having fun with family, friends, coworkers, or neighbors.

Where do I park?

Wood Dale County Park offers two on-site parking lots. On the day of the event, street parking is also permitted on many of the surrounding roads. Volunteers will be available to help direct traffic and parking if needed.

Is the route accessible?

Yes! The walking route is accessible and designed so participants of all abilities can enjoy the event at their own pace.

Will food and drinks be available?

Yes! We'll have complimentary light snacks, bottled water, and sports drinks available to help keep you refreshed before, during, and after the walk.

What happens if it rains?

The Walk-A-Thon will take place in light rain, so don't forget your rain jacket if the forecast calls for a few showers! If severe weather—including heavy rain, high winds, or lightning—is forecast, the event will be postponed for everyone's safety. All registered participants will be notified by email, and updates will also be posted on our website and social media. A rain date will be announced if needed.
