Team Spotlight: Monika Krutka, A Passion for Helping Others
At New Concepts for Living (NCFL), we pride ourselves on the dedication and heart our staff bring to their roles. This month, we are thrilled to spotlight Monika Krutka, a passionate and hardworking Direct Support Professional (DSP) who has been making a difference in the lives of the amazing individuals in our Achievement Center (Day Program).
Hailing from Greenwood Lake, NY, Monika always felt drawn to helping others but wasn’t sure how to channel that passion. After spending five years as a bartender, a role she still enjoys part-time, Monika discovered NCFL and knew it was the perfect fit. Impressed by NCFL’s commitment to exceptional care, she joined the team eager to contribute and make a difference in the lives of individuals with diverse needs.
What Monika loves most about her work at NCFL is witnessing the care and dedication that each DSP brings. “The clients have such diverse needs,” she reflects, “and NCFL ensures every individual receives exceptional care.” It is this personal touch, ensuring that each client is treated with love, dignity, and individualized attention, which makes working at NCFL so rewarding for Monika.
One of the most remarkable things about Monika is her daily commitment to bringing joy to the lives of her clients. She recalls how special it feels to end each day knowing she’s put a smile on someone’s face. “When I leave work, I feel like I’ve accomplished something. I know I’ve made a difference in someone’s life, and that’s an incredible feeling to have every single day.” This sense of fulfillment is what drives Monika to continue giving her all to the clients she cares for at NCFL.
For anyone considering becoming a DSP, Monika has simple but powerful advice: “Be yourself and love unconditionally.” She believes that authenticity and genuine care are the keys to building strong relationships with the individuals in the day program. The reward, she assures us, is the sense of purpose and fulfillment that comes from helping others. “It’s one of the most rewarding jobs you’ll ever come across, and you’ll feel that every day when you clock out.”
Outside of work, Monika leads an active and adventurous life. She enjoys spending time on the lake, having recently taken up sailing. Whether it’s baking dog-friendly treats for her beloved auburn toy poodle, Mila, or exploring the outdoors, Monika embraces every opportunity to stay connected to nature and her community. She also speaks Polish and a bit of Slovakian, skills that reflect her wide-ranging interests and background.
Monika truly embodies the core values of NCFL and her ability to brighten the lives of those around her makes her an invaluable member of our team!
