August 24, 2022: Our Day Program participants took a trip to the Wild Safari Drive Thru Adventure at Six Flags Great Adventure.

The safari is home to 1,200 animals from six continents and has numerous exhibits that house different animals.

Our individuals drove through The Americas, home to American Bison, Roosevelt Elk, Fallow Deer, Llamas, and Rheas. They learned that the American Bison is the national mammal of the United States.

The group also visited The Afrikka, where they saw African Elephants, the largest animal in the world, as well as White Rhinos, Ostriches, Grant’s Zebras and Asian Water Buffalos.

In addition, they drove through the Wilde Plains where they saw Dama Gazelles and Reticulated Giraffes. The giraffes are the tallest land mammal.

While driving through Tigris Asiana, they learned that tigers are the largest living cat species and that a tiger’s roar can be heard for nearly two miles.

Their last stop was Black Bear Ridge to see the American Black Bear and Brown Bear.

Everyone was excited to learn about the history of these animals, where they came from, and their unique characteristics.
